It Takes A Fool To Remain Sane!

Oh yeah, yesterdays session that involved myself, Peter and Roger did indeed feel a bit insane as we also had a visitor in the studio, and that visitor was none other than one of swedens hottest singers, Ola Salo from The Ark. On a day off in The Ark´s hectic tour schedule, he came in, conquered and went back out on the road again. :-) I can honestly say that his performance yesterday was quite unique and unlike anything he has ever recorded before. He delivered both a raunchy, edgy metal style lead vocal performance and some really cool harmonies that had a bit of "Phantom of the opera" vibe in there as he worked his way through the songs. As usual, Roger did a great job behind the computer, thanks man.

M.O.B (and especially me) wish to extend a huge thanks to Ola for taking the time and effort to be a part of "The Greatest Enemy" album, and to Roxy Recordings for allowing it to happen. Since Ola has been a great source of inspiration for me for a very long time now, this was a dream come true.

If you have been living under a rock for the last seven years, please, check out THE ARK.

Technical Ecstasy!

A quick visit to the studio tonight as me, Roger and Peter dealt
with some technical issues, but within the hour or so, we had
everything under control. I got to scream a little and Peter
and Rog got to mess around with the controls and cables a bit.
The next session will occur come tuesday, and it will be a
full day´s work, and hopefully, quite an interesting day.
Until then, have a great weekend! /Fredrik

The Greatest Update

So, after this and that, what are we up to right now,
in the making of this album? Well, here is the facts;
The 14 songs has all been recorded in demo versions,
with the original/to-be-on-the-album-drums as background.
3 songs has been passed around to other as yet unspecified
projects *but stay tuned*, and the other songs are
waiting for Conny to lay down serious bass, and for
Peter to lay down some more backing guitars,
and finally guitar solos/fills. Not mentioning
the final lead vocals and backing vocals.
In fact it is still a long way to go, but there is
definitely the feeling that this album will be very good.
The band is right now listening at home to the demo versions,
and will soon gather to sort out comments and thoughts,
about just everything, arrangements, melodies etc etc.
This is a process that all good bands in the world do :)
As soon as the band has settled and come around the
famous "musical differences" phase, it will all be
"go" for the final recordings!

Going Off The Rails On A Crazy Train!

Oh yes, loong 8 hour session today. Me and Peter arrived at the studio around 9 am (a horrible time of the day for rock*n* roll) and started to work hard right away. All in all I think I managed to lay down demo vocals on 9 or 10 songs and at the end of the day I was quite happy. Richard and Conny joined up after a while and gave their moral support (and some opinions) during the day.

The four of us took a lunch break around midday and went to a near by mall and enjoyed a nice meal, and thats not all I enjoyed on that trip.. You should never look back and speak to a person behind you and walk in to revolving doors at the same time. After saying something to Conny I looked forward again and walked right into the door and it hit me bullseye, right in the nose! I*m just glad my glasses didnt break, ha ha. I guess it was what you might call "a Spinal Tap moment", ha ha.

All in all, a very productive day though, in spite of nose accidents. We are experiencing some "technical extazy" in the studio right now that has to be fixed before any further vocal adventures can be set in motion. Time to call in a heavy duty tech wiz. Catcha later. /Fredrik and da gang!

I Believe In Music, Believe In Rock*n*Roll !

Last night, me and Peter enjoyed a couple of relaxed but still very creative hours in the studio. I felt a huge difference regarding my voice if I compare what we achieved the last time with yesterday´s results. I know from recent albums that when Peter and I are alone in studio working on my vocals, we always pull through together.

Peter is a great vocal coach, coming up with suggestions and ideas all the time and we are a great team together. We reworked "demo vocals" regarding 2 songs with some totally new vocal arrangements and it went so well that we decided to put in a full "work day" this upcoming week sometime during the easter and record "rough vocals" on as many songs as possible, and while Peter records more guitar after that, I can sit home and listen to what´s good and what´s crap and get ready for the final vocal sessions. Oh, and by the way, it´s Peters birthday today. How old? I would say..... 29, give or take a few years.

Cheers!

/Fredrik
